The history of knives and knife making goes back a long way. The first knives were little more than broken rocks, but eventually we learned how to break certain rock in certain ways in order to produce very sharp edges. Later we developed special tools to aid us in our work and eventually we learned how to remove metals from the earth. Brass, copper, iron all played a part in creating steel. Today there are alloys for all kinds of things, yet there have been blades made in the past that no one alive knows how to recreate.
